Apple is about to release its first-ever mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, with a debut scheduled for February 2nd, with pre-orders starting on Friday. Being the company's first device in this category, the Cupertino tech giant is taking a unique approach to showcasing its capabilities, recognizing the challenges of selling a device that is both expensive and unfamiliar to consumers. Apple analyst Mark Gurman has detailed the Apple Vision Pro demo process, giving potential buyers an immersive experience.

A guided tour of Apple Vision Pro

Unlike all previous quick product launches, such as the iPhone or MacBook, Apple goes the extra mile with Vision Pro, with an extensive 25-minute demo at Apple retailers. This extended session aims to guide customers through the fitting process and reveal the headset's full potential to help them make an informed decision.

Customer demos will begin on launch day itself in US Apple stores, with registration starting at 8 local time. Dozens of demo units will be available in larger stores, along with a dedicated seating area to accommodate the demo process.

While users are already used to wearing VR headsets, wearing a brand new mixed-reality headset is a new experience for most consumers, and Apple is keen to make sure it's comfortable and personal. The demo begins with a retailer scanning the user's face, similar to the Face ID setup with a special app, and determining the correct light seal, foam pad and band size needed for an optimal fit. As already revealed, Apple offers two types of bands for the Vision Pro – the Solo Knit Band and the Dual Loop Band.
