Dragon Ball Writer Passed Away…

It's been almost four decades since the first Dragon Ball chapter was published. Since then, it has developed into one of the largest and richest franchises in the anime and manga industry. Akira Toriyama created separate manga before and after Dragon Ball, but none of them reached the same level. However, the legendary creator had to switch from his original genre to make the manga better.

Dragon Ball Z was mostly based on martial arts and iconic transformations. There isn't a single transformation as iconic as the first Super Saiyan transformation. The fight scenes and ki clashes became a signature feature of the franchise. Although well received, martial arts were never mangaka's comfort zone. He was used to the comedy genre.

Before the Dragon Ball series, Akira Toriyama created Dr. Chance. It followed the story of a doctor named Senbei Norimaki and a humanoid robot named Arale Norimaki. The manga belonged to the science fiction comedy genre. When Toriyama first serialized Dragon Ball, the series used to be filled with toilet humor and infantile jokes. All fans remember when Goku discovered that Bulma had no balls or when Bulma showed her underwear to the hermit.
