First, matrices are basically artifacts that give extra stats to your weapons. In a sense, they allow you to enhance your weapons to make them even stronger and more powerful. Of course, the bonus will depend on the type of weapon you plan to upgrade.
Matrices come in four different categories, namely belief, feeling, memory and mind. Each of them has its own set of bonuses. Faith and Memory give both Attack and HP bonuses, Emotion gives Attack and Resistance, and Mind gives HP and Crit.
