Elon Musk officially owns Twitter now and according to his series of tweets, a lot is expected to change. And this will apply to the verification process. But this may not be a happy change for many as the microblogging site may make the famous "Blue Tick" badge a paid thing, making it more exclusive.

How to Get Verified on Twitter – NEW Update – Twitter Blue Checkmark

It's being reported (via The Verge) that Twitter will start asking users to pay for its Blue Tick. Elon Musk has urged employees to soon increase the cost of the Twitter Blue subscription plan and make the Blue Tick part of its exclusive features. People close to the matter have revealed that the price of Twitter Blue could increase exponentially from $5 to $19.99 a month.

While this change will affect people trying to get verified, it will also affect the existing ones. Verified Twitter users must subscribe to Twitter Blue to keep their Blue Tick intact. They will have 90 days to purchase the subscription and failure to do so will no longer hold the coveted Blue Tick. Musk has given a deadline of November 7 to implement this new change. If this is not met, the employees can be fired.

This comes after Elon Musk recently tweeted about revamping the entire verification process. However, he has not revealed much about it. The entire verification process is being renewed right now — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 30, 2022
