Fans wonder if they'll ever learn more about Elden Ring's Prince of Death.

The Elden Ring DLC Has Broke Me – Shadow of the Erdtree Review 2024

Being the creation of Hidetaka Miyazaki that it is, Ring of Fire encompasses quite a bit of lore, much of which often lingers forever towards the end. And while they're the worst aspect of the game, unfortunately fans can't help but start figuring out for themselves what the director had in mind. One of the first mysteries that comes to mind is Godwyn the Golden, also called the Prince of Death. Despite being the very reason The Shattering comes about and makes everything go haywire, there aren't enough interactions, nor is there enough background on the half-dead demigod as much as fans would like, something they've been very clear with since day one.

In all fairness, there's no particular shortage of bosses in The Lands Between, but players have always wondered how much of an impact Queen Marika's first child could have had if he'd been actively present.

Assassinated on the Night of Black Knives, Godwyn is a character that isn't coming back anytime soon and is possibly gone forever. But the real gripe is how there was no mention of him in the latest Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, despite there being clear indications of how close he was to the empyrean twin Miquella.
