Q. What is original promise?
Original promise is a promise to answer for the debt of another, because it is made to sub serve or promote an interest or purpose of the promisor and upon a consideration beneficial to him. Original promise is a promise which is not within the statute of frauds.

More simply put, equitable estoppel is generally words or conduct which cause another person to believe a certain state of things exists and to consequently change his or her position in an adverse way.
