Pull Factors: Reasons to Migrate A promise of freedom from religious or political persecution, availability of career opportunities or cheap land, and an abundance of food could be considered pull factors for migrating to a new country.

The Pull Factors are factors which attract the migrants to an area. Opportunities for better employment, higher wages, facilities, better working conditions and attractive amenities are pull factors of an area.

• limited jobs.
• limited land.
• religious or political prosecution.

Pull factors- These are elements that will pull you towards a job with a new employer. Examples can include: an inspirational boss, great pay & benefits package, clear career development plan, fun co-workers, an office location or an opportunity to work in a new sector.

Push factors “push” people away from their home and include things like war. Pull factors “pull” people to a new home and include things like better opportunities. The reasons people migrate are usually economic, political, cultural, or environmental.

Pull factors are those that entice migrants to inhabit new countries, such as the booming economy in most of Western Europe (Compared to places such as Syria). The Lebanese economy is on the decline due in part to the Syrian Civil War.

Cultural push factors usually involve slavery, political instability, ethnic cleansing, famine, and war. Cultural pull factors could include people who want to live in democratic societies, gender equality, or educational or religious opportunities.

Lack of jobs and less pay are example of push factor as this pushes the people to leave a place and settle in another place.

An environmental push factor is when people have to leave to survive. Things like natural disasters, droughts, flooding, and, lack of resources are just some push factors that cause people to move.

According to the United Nations, in 2019, the United States, Germany, and Saudi Arabia had the largest number of immigrants of any country, while Tuvalu, Saint Helena, and Tokelau had the lowest.

Hurricane Katrina create both push and pull factors for migration into and out of New Orleans by The destruction caused by the hurricane displaced half of the city’s population and encouraged over 250,000 people to leave Louisiana. [ Many volunteers came for a short time to aid people. ]

Push factors are the things that encourage a population to leave, and pull factors are the things that encourage them to end up somewhere new. In a chain migration, established communities provide the majority of the pull factors that maintain the chain of migration.
