Biomes and their characteristics

Terrestrial biomes include tropical rainforests, temperate forests, grasslands, deserts, tundra, taiga, savanna and chaparral.

Temperature and precipitation, and variations in both, are key abiotic factors that shape the composition of animal and plant communities in terrestrial biomes. Some biomes, such as temperate grasslands and temperate forests, have distinct seasons, with cold weather and hot weather alternating throughout the year.

There are five major types of biomes: aquatic, grassland, forest, desert, and tundra, though some of these biomes can be further divided into more specific categories, such as freshwater, marine, savanna, tropical rainforest, temperate rainforest, and taiga. Aquatic biomes include both freshwater and marine biomes.

Threats to the Tundra The tundra is one of the most fragile biomes on the planet. The food chains are relatively simple so they are easily disrupted.

Swamp Hills If a Swamp Hill is next to a Jungle, there is a chance that a Modified Jungle Edge can generate, which is the rarest biome.

Quartz Desert

The legendary Modified Jungle Edge biome. The modified jungle edge is a technical biome and is the rarest biome in the game, covering a mere 0.0001% (a millionth) of the overworld. For comparison, the very rare mushroom fields biome covers 0.1% (a thousandth).

The tropical rainforest biome is an ecosystem that covers about 7% of the Earth’s surface. They are found all over the world but the majority of the tropical rainforest lies in South America in Brazil. The weather in the tropical rainforest is rainy yet pleasant all year round, day or night.
