The three domains of child development (physical, cognitive, and social-emotional) continually interact with each other and are built upon one another. Growth or change in one domain often comes hand-in-hand with growth or change in the others.

Developmental Milestones Having independence from family becomes more important now. Events such as starting school bring children this age into regular contact with the larger world. Friendships become more and more important. Physical, social, and mental skills develop quickly at this time.

Child development can be defined as the process by which a child changes over time. It covers the whole period from conception to an individual becoming a fully functioning adult. It’s a journey from total dependence to full independence.

A baby’s growth is dramatic during this first year. Babies grow taller, and their heads get bigger. Cognitive development. Babies make great advances in being able to learn and remember.

Week 31: Baby’s rapid weight gain begins Thirty-one weeks into your pregnancy, or 29 weeks after conception, your baby has finished most of his or her major development. Now it’s time to gain weight — quickly.

The first trimester of pregnancy can often be the hardest. Pregnancy hormones, extreme fatigue, nausea and vomiting, tender breasts, and perpetually needing to wee make life growing a human no easy feat.

Your baby gets a whole lot bigger — growing from about 2 pounds at the end of the second trimester to somewhere between 6 and 9 pounds at the end of the during the third trimester. As your little one takes up more and more space in your belly, you might start noticing some not-so-fun changes.

At this point, your uterus is especially enlarged where the placenta attaches to it (usually on the front or back wall). This gives the uterus an uneven bulge. The wall of the uterus, which lengthens and thickens early in pregnancy, stretches as the fetus grows, and becomes thinner now – just 3 to 5 millimeters thick.

Two Months Pregnant: Your Body’s Changes Don’t expect to see too much of a belly bump at two months pregnant. At this stage, your body probably won’t look dramatically different.

What about sleeping on your stomach? Sleeping on your stomach is fine in early pregnancy—but sooner or later you’ll have to turn over. Generally, sleeping on your stomach is OK until the belly is growing, which is between 16 and 18 weeks.

Development at 8 Weeks The baby is now a little over half an inch in size. Eyelids and ears are forming, and you can see the tip of the nose. The arms and legs are well formed. The fingers and toes grow longer and more distinct.

At 2 months, baby is about the size of a raspberry. They still look a lot like an alien, but some human features are starting to develop: eyes, a nose, a mouth, and ears are growing on the outside, while important body systems — like the respiratory organs and nerves — are rapidly growing on the inside.

During the early stages of pregnancy, around 7 or 8 weeks, the growth of the uterus and the development of the baby, turn the the belly harder.
