These are the entirely new scenes that have been added: Concerning Hobbits; At the Green Dragon; The Passing of the Elves; The Midgewater Marshes; Gilraen’s Memorial. The Two Towers contains 44 minutes of additional footage, taking the film from 179 minutes to 223 minutes.

And surprise, surprise, the MPAA has awarded this third Hobbit film (and sixth Middle Earth adventure) an R-rating for “some violence.”

According to a bulletin published today by the Motion Picture Association of America Classification and Rating Administration, the extended edition of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will carry an “R” rating for “some violence.” Of course, it’s no news flash that the movie contains violence.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey doesn’t have a bucket load of new content but what it does have is fun to watch. There’s more scenes from the Rivendell sequence, including a rather fascinating moment between Bilbo and Elrond.
