The JFK rental car return area is located at 310 Federal Circle, Jamaica, New York. Go to the airport and follow signs to the car rental return area. The Budget counter is open 24 hours a day, so you will always be able to check in your rental car.

Our rental offices are happy to pick you up, but they do not deliver vehicles. If renting from an airport location, our offices are either in the terminal or a short shuttle ride away. Due to security regulations, our non-airport rental locations cannot pick you up or drop you off at an airport.

All vehicles are subject to availability. If there is a particular car you require, please let us know when booking, or ask our branch staff when you pick up your vehicle and if it is available, we’ll do our best to accomodate.

For car rental companies that don’t do credit checks, that accept a wide range of payment methods, and that allow young renters, consider renting with National or Enterprise. Dollar also does not conduct a credit check, and it accepts debit cards at many locations, though policies may vary.

Car rental companies see debit cards as a red flag and will likely check your credit before they rent to you. It will mean higher interest rates on your loans and credit cards, which cuts into your monthly budget.

In February 2019, Dollar Car Rental, part of Hertz, announced it would eliminate credit checks and proof of return travel, as well as lower the age restriction, for debit card users. It also revealed that Dollar Car Rental previously had a minimum score requirement of 660.

According to Experian, buyers with credit scores of 661 or higher will qualify for the lowest rates and best terms. Those with scores below 660 may have to pay higher rates.

Minimum Score Requirement Hertz doesn’t have a specific credit score required to pass its credit check. Customers have reported being approved for the credit check with Equifax scores in the low 600s, and some customers with bankruptcies on their credit reports also report being approved for Hertz rentals.

What do you need to rent a car?

If a Debit Card is accepted the card must be in the same name as the renter. (Deposit amount varies by location from $100 to $300 plus the actual cost of rental).

Avis requires that each customer and additional driver meet the Avis minimum age requirement, present a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, and present an Avis-honored charge card or cash rental qualification at the time of rental.

If you carry comprehensive and liability coverage on your personal car, coverage typically will extend to your rental car within the United States. If you’re renting a car in the U.S. of similar value to your personal car, in all likelihood your auto insurance coverage will be adequate for the rental.

1. Insure online when you book.
2. Protect your rental directly with the rental company.
3. Insure your car through a third-party insurer.
4. Don’t buy any additional insurance at all.

No, you do not need insurance to rent a car because rental companies have their own insurance that covers their rental cars. Many major credit cards also offer coverage for rental cars if you pay with your card and decline the collision damage waiver offered by the rental company.
