Revelation, in religion, the disclosure of divine or sacred reality or purpose to humanity. In the religious view, such disclosure may come through mystical insights, historical events, or spiritual experiences that transform the lives of individuals and groups.

For example, Christians believe that creation (i.e. the Earth, space, nature, etc.) is general revelation which points to the existence of god; as Psalm 19 in the Bible puts it, ‘the heavens declare the glory of god’. The second type of revelation is known as ‘special’ revelation.

We love truth because it’s the way we’re created by God. It’s built in, so to speak. And every step we take in the direction of valuing truth and resisting falsity moves us closer to understanding that God is Truth and to fulfilling Jesus’ promise that this all-important truth will heal us and make us free.
