Humpbacks are mainly black or grey with white undersides to their flukes, flippers and bellies. They are 15m long. One of the most noticeable characteristics of humpback whales is their long flippers.

All mammals have hair at some point in their life and dolphins are no exception. Dolphins have a few whiskers around their snout in the womb and when they are first born but they soon lose them. The bumps on humpback whales’ heads are hair follicles and some adult humpbacks still have hairs growing from them.

Believe it or not, whales do have hair, although it’s only visible in some species. One of those is the humpback whale. The golfball-sized lumps you see on a humpback’s head each house a hair follicle. Fin, sei, right and bowhead whales also have hair follicles.

The bumps on the rostrum, or head, and the pectoral fins of a humpback whale are, in fact, hair follicles. Called “tubercles,” these fist-sized bumps contain one hair follicle each, connected to a set of sensitive nerves. These tubercles may be a contributing factor for their agility.

When small amounts of human sunscreens are ingested by dogs or cats the most likely symptom is self-limiting vomiting,and diarrhoea due to stomach irritation and nausea. However, if large quantities of sunscreen are ingested the symptoms will vary depending upon the component chemicals in the product.

Ingestion of large amounts of moisturizing lotions can cause drooling, vomiting and diarrhea in pets. If ingested by dogs or cats it can cause fluid buildup in the lungs and heart failure, with initial signs of vomiting and lethargy. Never let your pet lick your head after an application.
