Fairies want breeding stock or human lovers In many Rumpelstiltskin-type tales, instead of trying to steal a baby, the fairylike helper wants the woman to become his wife and live with him underground, in Fairyland or Hell.

Fairies are naturally born within nature, specificly from flowers and trees. The average lifespan of a fairy is between 1000 to 1500 years. They do not appear to physically age and they never suffer from illness. Even after death their bodies do not decompose and rot.

Fairies are attracted to shiny, sparkly things. Most fictional depictions involve some form of glitter or “fairy dust” that sparkles. When trying to contact fairies in real life, those who have done it suggest using crystals.

If a faery is cut by a steel or iron blade, the wound will not heal or will take a very long time. In some stories, the Fae is slowly poisoned by such a wound. Steel or iron weapons are among the few things that can actually kill a Fae being.
