Things to do if you’re finding it hard to get support

The most difficult part of learning is reading and understanding lots of materials in a short period of time. Why? The brain needs enough time and less pressure to read and understand for instance a heavy material of science.

In my experience, as an English teacher with over 10 years’ experience, Spanish students learning English generally say the hardest aspects of English are prepositions, phrasal verbs, exceptions to grammar rules and the phonetics (including consonant clusters and th ‘th’ sound).

For me, the hardest class to learn over virtual learning is child development. Child development is just a very hands on class. It is much easier to learn in person, but Mrs. Jenkins makes it very easy to learn even though we can’t do some stuff ourselves.

Effectiveness. While some studies have found in-person classes to be more effective, on average, than online classes, some students do better with virtual learning than in-person courses. However, students who struggle with in-person education tend to have an even more difficult time learning online.

Online learning is harder for many reasons; from missing crucial parts of your learning, to not being able to access your education because of the internet, online learning has been a rough adjustment. Many students have struggled to make the jump from physically being at school to learning virtually.

I have taught eight subjects, and without question the easiest is Mathematics. Subjects that change all the time – like ICT – are amongst the hardest, and those with lots of corrections – English in particular are very time consuming.
