NSFAS has its own criteria to select people who are eligible or deserve to be funded. NSFAS only caters for South African citizen. NSFAS helps needy students pay their registration fees, tuition fees, accommodation, grant them meal allowances and books allowance.

Scholarship Disadvantages These generally center no provable financial need and poor essay writing ability, but can extend to things like a GPA that’s lower than you like or international students that are limited in the scholarships they can apply for.

NSFAS has stated that your combined household income should be under R350 000 per year for you to qualify. If you are a person living with a disability, your combined annual household income should be less than R600 000.

Funza Lushaka doesn’t require you to pay back the money but you are required to accept a teaching post immediately after qualifying. You will need to work in this teaching job for the amount of years you were funded.

At least a level 4 pass at matric level in the subject which the applicant will specialize to teach. For students who wish to specialize in the Foundation Phase, a pass in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level is required. In addition, at least a level 4 pass in the Home Language is required.
