An exclusion zone is a territorial division established for various, case-specific purposes. Per the United States Department of Defense, an exclusion zone is a territory where sanctioning body prohibits specific activities in a specific geographic area (see Military exclusion zone).

The areas surrounding the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, including the nearby city of Pripyat, have since deteriorated into abandoned ghost towns. But some residents have returned to their villages following the explosion and evacuation, despite dangerous levels of radiation, and some remain there today.

The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone borders a separately administered area, the Polesie State Radioecological Reserve, to the north in Belarus. A marine exclusion zone is a defined ‘no go’ area, within which sea based operations or events can be safely undertaken. A marine exclusion zone will apply around the jack up barge at all times during construction.

For the EEZ, the United States has sovereign rights to utilizes one of these zones to their advantage. Hence, in this situation, the Exclusive Economic Zone is considered to be formal regions, because “It is distinguished by physical properties, such as a specific landform or vegetation.”

The Territorial Waters, Continental Shelf, Exclusive Economic Zone and Other Maritime Zones Act, 1976 allows any Indian citizen to fish in EEZ. In accordance to such responsibility the Central government regulates fishing operations in the EEZ through guidelines for fishing operations.

The Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) comprises an area which extends either from the coast, or in federal systems from the seaward boundaries of the constituent states (3 to 12 nautical miles, in most cases) to 200 nautical miles (370 kilometres) off the coast.

The territorial jurisdiction extends to territorial water up to 12 nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline; beyond territorial waters is the Contiguous Zone extending up to 24 nautical miles; and beyond that up to 200 nautical miles is the Exclusive Economic Zone of India.

Islands In International Waters If I’m correct, if a piece of land is unclaimed, or you build your own artificial island in international waters, you can claim it as your own – if its outside a countries borders, you can even found your own nation.

According to Official eTA, the cheapest continent to purchase an island is South America, where the average cost per acre is $1,147. There, the least expensive location (Chile) costs $405 an acre, while private islands Argentina can be picked up for as little as $867 per acre.

Living on an island grows stale very quickly. Most uninhabited islands are for a reason uninhabited: They cannot sustain life for one or several persons, so replenishment of stocks and therefore contact with the outer world are a necessity. Anyway, all islands are under a jurisdiction.

Jaco Island in East Timor has no permanent inhabitants because locals consider it sacred land. However, that does not mean they won’t accommodate tourists. Since 2007, Jaco Island is part of Nino Konis Santana National Park.
