Boules is a collective name for a wide range of ball games, including petanque and bocce. Normally it involves throwing or bowling the ball. However, people uses boules as a synonym to petanque since both has a french origin. Depending on the region some uses boules as a synonym to bocce as well.

If a boule hits or rests against the back sleepers, the boule is out. If the jack ball is knocked out of play, the end must be played again.

The most common strategy for players throwing the first boule is to aim the boule directly at the jack, so that it will stop right in front of it, or near to it. This is done to prevent your opponent from throwing a boule nearer to the jack, as your boule would act as an obstacle in your opponent’s path.

Bocce is played with eight large balls and one smaller target or object ball called a pallina. For four player teams, each player throws one ball. For two player teams, each player throws two balls.

To score using a straight blade, hold the blade lightly in the hand and at a 90-degree angle (perpendicular) to the dough. If doing few cuts, score slightly deeper than a curved blade and after doing so you’ll notice the dough relax open and outward.

Although Bocce is a game which falls under the category of Boules games, sometimes interchange the term “Boules” with another game called Pétanque.
