“CYT” (certified Yoga Teacher) indicates that the teacher has received a teaching certification from a Yoga School. “RYT” indicates that a teacher has choosen to REGISTER with the Yoga Alliance (YA). This means that the YA has done much of the research for you, on both the teacher and school that trained them.

It means that you are certified to teach yoga and eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance as RYT 200. You are eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance as RYT 500, which means that you are able to teach yoga with the deeper knowledge and skills developed through more extensive training and study.
