Occupation of Japan, (1945–52) military occupation of Japan by the Allied Powers after its defeat in World War II. Though the United States wanted to end the occupation in 1947, the Soviet Union vetoed a peace treaty with Japan; a treaty was signed in 1951, and the occupation ended the following year.

In general, living conditions in Singapore during the Japanese Occupation was grim due to the scarcity of many basic necessities. Rice, salt, cooking oil and cloth were some of the essential items that had to be rationed. To overcome the scarcity, learning to creatively recycle and reuse old items became the norm.

The Malaya economic is badly affected during the Japanese occupation. The Malayan economy dependent on the rubber exports but eventually all the rubber reduced production due to the war and also because of the policy of “Scorched Earth” as implemented by the British.

After being imposed a trade embargo due to its Chinese campaigns, Japan had to look for an alternative source of supplies for its war against the allies in the Pacific War. As a result Japan invaded Malaya.

Fuel continues to leak from USS Arizona’s wreckage. However, despite the raging fire and ravages of time, some 500,000 gallons are still slowly seeping out of the ship’s submerged wreckage: Nearly 70 years after its demise, Arizona continues to spill up to 9 quarts of oil into the harbor each day.

The USS Arizona is the resting place to hundreds of sailors. The Navy decided to leave them and the ship there after an inspection a few months after the attack. It was determined that there was so much damage taht the ship was a total loss and could not be salvaged.

Only USS Arizona survivors can be interred on the USS Arizona. Pearl Harbor survivors can have their ashes scattered over Pearl Harbor. The memorial service and interment of deceased USS Arizona Survivors is conducted on the USS Arizona Memorial.
