At the end of Romeo and Juliet , Romeo returns to Verona because he believes Juliet is dead. Moments later Juliet wakes, and, finding Romeo dead, she plunges his sword into her breast. This ending replays in miniature the structure of the play as a whole.

After the death of Romeo and Juliet, Tybalt is the last person with “pure” Capulet and Montague blood running in him; he can be considered as the last “pure Capulet and Montague”. It is hinted in the series that he may have a possible crush on Juliet….

Although they killed themselves, there were other factors that led them to their demise. The three major causes of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths were bad choices, adult interference, and bad luck. This causes their death because their families are enemies, so they had to keep their marriage a secret.

The final scene of the play brings both the transcendent reunion of Romeo and Juliet and the reconciliation of the feuding families. The family tomb becomes a symbol of both birth and death.

In a final attempt to save Juliet, Romeo uses the last of his strength to cry out her name and she wakes up. Romeo is fatally stabbed by Ophelia, whom Romeo kills. Juliet sees Romeo dying on the ground and decides to follow her destiny, sacrificing herself to save everyone in Neo Verona.

The hidden affection of Tybalt and Mercutio becomes evident as Mercutio designates the Capulet garden as a politics-free zone. Mercutio hints at mutual desire as he reminds Tybalt that they “agreed there’d be no talk of Montagues and Capulets” here.

Romeo opens the crypt and is shattered as he finds what he believes to be the corpse of his beloved. His final words, as he consumes a lethal drug, are as follows: Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide!

The Prince thus informs the men that they have killed their own children, and the instrument of their murder has been Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other. In addition to unifying the play’s themes of love and violence, the ending also brings an end to the longstanding feud between the Capulet and Montague families.

Juliet faked her death to avoid having to marry Paris. Romeo, however, was unaware of Juliet’s plan because the message she sent wasn’t able to get to him in time. Instead, Romeo only heard that Juliet had died, so he intends to die at her side in a symbolic act of eternal love.

Montague responds by one-upping Capulet. He claims that he will commission a statue of Juliet to be fashioned from pure gold, and he concludes with a boast: “whiles Verona by that name is known, / There shall no figure at such rate be set / As that of true and faithful Juliet” (V.iii.300–2).
