The leaves of an electroscope collapse as soon as we touch a charged body with hands because the leaves of charged electroscope lose charge to the earth through our body (in other words the charged body gets discharged. this is called earthing.
Q. Can a neutral body be attracted by a charged body?
The answer is YES. Charged particles indeed attract uncharged ones. The negatively charged body can be thought to be an electron rich specie. When brought near the uncharged body, it repels the free electrons from the uncharged body towards its farther end.

Q. What do you mean by a charged body?
A charged body is a body which is not electrically neutral, it means either the body is negatively charged or positively charged due to the absence of either of the charges +ve or -ve. A body which is electrically neutral is called as uncharged body. we can charge a body by the following methods.
Q. Why do charged bodies attract uncharged bodies?
Yes, a charged body can attract another uncharged body. When the charged body is placed near the uncharged body, the induced charges of opposite kind are produced on the uncharged body by the charged body. Now, they are oppositely charged and the uncharged body is attracted by charged body.
Q. How can you show that like charges repel while unlike charges attract each other?
Attraction is seen between the two rods. Now interchange them i.e. suspend B and bring A near it, again attraction is there. This show that unlike charges attract each other. Now take two glass rods (+vely charged) and bring them near each other, repulsion takes place.
Q. How can you represent experimentally that there are two types of charges?
But when glass rod after rubbing with silk and ebonite rod after rubbing with cat’s skin hang near to each other, then they attract to each other, (figure (c)]. It is clear that charges on a glass rod and ebonite rod are the opposite. It means that charges are of two types.
Q. Who found out that like charges repel?
Objects with opposite charges attract each other; those with the same charge repel. Much of the language used to describe electricity was proposed by either Benjamin Franklin. Franklin introduced the words plus, minus, positive, negative, charge, and battery.
Q. What is a charge atom called?
An ion is a charged atom or molecule. When an atom is attracted to another atom because it has an unequal number of electrons and protons, the atom is called an ION. If the atom has more electrons than protons, it is a negative ion, or ANION. If it has more protons than electrons,it is a positive ion.
