What is a B20 VTEC?

HomeArticles, FAQWhat is a B20 VTEC?

Combined with a VTEC head, the B20 bottom end will produce awesome power and easily attain 20+ft/lbs more torque over a similarly built B18C. The process of building a B20/VTEC motor is simple. It is exactly the same as doing an LS/VTEC conversion.

Q. How do I find my ITR head?

The casting stamp for an ITR head is PR3 (see picture below). All b16a/b17a/ITR heads come from the SAME casting, therefore the casting stamp, whether it be PR3-1, PR3-2, PR3-3 or PR3-4 are ALL possible ITR heads. An internal identification of and ITR head is a porting on the intake bowl area (see picture below).

Q. What is a ITR head?

An ITR head is a ported B16A head from the factory. Both are coded as PR3 heads. So they are the same head but the ITR one (PR3-4) has had better intake valves, stiffer springs, bigger cams, bigger LMD’s, bigger ports, steeper valve angles, some bowl blending work done from the factory.

Q. How much horsepower does a B20 VTEC have?

Honda B20B/B20Z engine specs

ManufacturerHonda Motor Company

Q. Which B20 is high compression?

Re: Which B20 is the High Compression 1?? The b20b is the lower compression 96-98 CRV motor. THe higher compression (99-00 CRV) is the b20z.

Q. How much does it cost to build a B20 VTEC?

if u just want a stock one with little bit of bolt on here and there your looking around $2000 to $3500. But if ur looking to built yours with internals then your looking around $3000 to maybe even $7000.

Q. Is a B20 better than a B18?

The B18 and B20 are the same engine. The B20 runs bigger pistons. That would be like saying if you bored your B18 out to 84mm it would no longer rev because now it is built for towing.

Q. How long will a B20 VTEC last?

Re: how long would a b20/vtec motor last? ( 2-3 weeks tops.

Q. How much power can a stock B20 handle?

It has nothing to do with how powerful your motor is, how much psi you are running, or your compression. You could make 400 horsepower in a b20 and if you never detonated, you would be fine…..

Q. Is the b20 good for boost?

for all intensive purposes yes you should be fine running some boost through it, just don’t go crazy. Re: B20b Good for Boost?? b20b is 8.8:1 compression b20z is the higher compression motor ~9.6:1 I believe. I had a boosted b20b, ran 9 psi on a 60 trim, had no issues whatsoever.

Q. How much is a b20 swap?

b20 longblocks usually go for 500-800 dollars on ebay.

Q. How much HP can a B18 handle?

B18 internals can handle 300 hp when well tuned.

Q. How much boost can a stock GSR handle?

A stock b18c1 can handle around 450hp daily driven, the only thing you gotta worry about over time are your valves since stock valves aren’t heat treated to handle the extra heat the turbo produces inside your motor.

Q. How much boost can a b18c handle?

11 psi is good on a stock B18C5, tuned properly of obviously. that’ll be good for 300 wheel Hp range.

Q. What’s better B Series or K series?

“Their is an advantage to sealing strength on [B series] cylinder heads for heavily boosted applications due to the smaller bore and spacing which allows for closer head bolt location relative to the cylinder,” said Ragains. The K series (left) has more material around the cylinder sleeves than the B series (right).

Q. Can you turbo a stock b16?

Re: turbo on stock b16 (Phatwhippin_CRX) Yes..
