Temptation is something you want to have or to do, even though you know you shouldn’t. That bag of peanut butter cups on top of your fridge might be an example of a temptation. The thing that you want despite knowing it’s not good for you — like the cool sneakers you really can’t afford — is a temptation.

You can do the same for you mind as well. Writing activates a number of different cognitive processes, and unleashes your creativity. All of this will keep your brain sharp and active, and it can even act as a preventative measure against some mental illnesses, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia.

An individuals experience with temptation may influence a person’s future experiences, predict future possibilities, and outcomes. When an individual is attempting to address or resolve a complex experience of temptation, including transcendent levels and potential negative and positive expressions.

Instead of choosing to sin, resolve to implement the following strategies to overcome temptation in your life.

1. Be Reconciled to God.
2. Meditate on God’s Word.
3. Deny Ungodliness and Cultivate Godliness.
4. Avoid Tempting Situations.
5. Be Transparent to God and Others.

James 1:13-15. When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.

Temptation can lead to sin, but it doesn’t have to. It is wise to remember that whenever you are tempted. And should you choose to give in to temptation, which leads to sin, you need to be advised that sin can ultimately lead to death.

If our relationship with God is strong, we will reject the temptation. If it wavers and capitulates to the pull of our passions and feelings, then our minds will rationalize the act. Then we decide to sin. That choice begins in our hearts before it becomes concrete behavior.
