Talk of this code name has been circulating on the internet since last year. But this is as concrete and official as it gets. On its developer site, Google has posted a screenshot of the Android Gradle plugin code that confirms the Android 15 codename. Image courtesy: Google

Google has once again been loyal to the dessert-themed naming of its latest Android releases. For those unaware, Android 14 was codenamed "Upside Down Cake." Meanwhile, Android 13 came with the code name "Tiramisu".

It wasn't always just codenames though, and Google actually linked the dessert name to its Android version numbers as well. For example, Android 8 was officially called Oreo, while Android 9, Pie. With Android 10, Google officially dropped the dessert-themed name and just called it "Q." But internally, Android 10 was called "Quince Tart" by Google.
