Buscopan® compositum is a combi- nation of the spasmolytic agent Bus- copan ® (Hyoscine-N-Butylbromide) and the analgesic dipyrone. Buscopan® compositum acts in three ways: – directly as a spasmolytic – directly as an analgesic – indirectly as an anti-inflammatory agent These three actions are interrelated.

Do not take BUSCOPAN Tablets if:

• You are allergic (hypersensitive) to hyoscine butylbromide or any of the other ingredients (listed in section 6)
• You have glaucoma (an eye problem)
• You have something called ‘myasthenia gravis’ (a very rare muscle weakness problem)
• You have a suspected or confirmed blockage of the bowel.

Hyoscine BUTYLbromide is an anti-cholinergic and is primarily used in the palliative setting to manage noisy breathing at the end of life. Measures should be put into place to avoid mistaking it for the similarly sounding medicine hyoscine HYDRObromide. use in the conscious patient.

Following oral administration of single doses in the range of 100 to 400 mg, the terminal elimination half-lives ranged from 6.2 to 10.6 hours. The main metabolic pathway is the hydrolytic cleavage of the ester bond. Orally administered hyoscine butylbromide is excreted in the faeces and in the urine.

Foods that can make IBS-related diarrhea worse for some people include:

• Too much fiber, especially the insoluble kind you get in the skin of fruits and vegetables.
• Food and drinks with chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, fructose, or sorbitol.
• Carbonated drinks.
• Large meals.
• Fried and fatty foods.

Buscopan cramps tablets are an over-the-counter version of prescription Buscopan tablets. They contain the same strength antispasmodic medicine as the prescription product, hyoscine butylbromide 10mg. You can buy them without a prescription from pharmacies.

Treatment of IBS focuses on relieving symptoms so that you can live as normally as possible. Mild signs and symptoms can often be controlled by managing stress and by making changes in your diet and lifestyle.

Unfortunately, IBS is not currently a qualified condition included in the SSA’s Listing of Impairments; however, this does not mean you can’t be found disabled. It does mean that it will be harder to prove your case, and it will take longer.

Lemon water is unlikely to worsen IBS symptoms, but it is also unlikely to help them.
