The umbra is the darkest part of the shadow while the penumbra is the lighter portion on the edges.

The definition of a penumbra is the lighted area around the shadow of a planet or moon during an eclipse. An example of the penumbra is the outer lighted area surrounding the shadow of the moon which is created during an eclipse.

Penumbra Definition The penumbra is a half-shadow that occurs when a light source is only partly covered by an object—for example, when the Moon obscures part of the Sun’s disk.

The Sun is a very large light source, its diameter exceeding that of both the Earth and the Moon. This means that, on their journey through space, both objects produce all 3 types of shadows.

During an eclipse, two shadows are cast. The first is called the umbra (UM bruh). It is the dark center of the eclipse shadow. The second shadow is called the penumbra (pe NUM bruh). The penumbra gets larger as it goes away from the sun.

Shadows are formed when an opaque object or material is placed in the path of rays of light. The opaque material does not let the light pass through it. The light rays that go past the edges of the material make an outline for the shadow.

Sharp Shadow Acquisition

1. Location: Deepnest.
2. Acquisition: This charm is obtained in Deepnest, you can find the charm behind a Shade Gate, southeast of the Hot Spring – you will need to have the Shade Cloak ability in order to pass through the Shade Gate.

Cast and attached shadows are a fundamental presence in natural visual scenes. Cast shadows, caused by the blockage of light from a light source by the object, or part of the object, project onto a surface (extrinsic cast shadow), or onto a part of the object itself (intrinsic cast shadow).

Sharp Shadow deals damage equal to the player’s current Nail damage, but is not affected by Fragile Strength or Fury of the Fallen. It is, however, affected by Dashmaster, providing a 50% damage increase. Enemies struck by the Sharp Shadow will not generate SOUL.

Damage Values

Combat: Players may kill the Nailsmith. Rewards: Finishing a quest grants the Happy Couple Trophy/Achievement, killing him grants the Purity Trophy/Achievement.

Hollow Knight is a side-scrolling Metroidvania type game. The story can be a bit dark, etc: you try to fix the previous king’s mistakes by containing an infection that is taking over minds, the final boss stabs itself, yeah. There’s also some creepy parts, including Deepnest and Royal waterways.

Where to Find Nosk in Hollow Knight

1. Go to Deepnest, specifically the Hot Spring to the West of Tram.
2. To the left of that Hot Spring there should be a room with a wall. Break it.
3. Behind that wall is a Grub with wall behind it.
4. Follow the tunnels, and you will soon find yourself in Nosk’s lair.

The area’s entrance only opens if the Kingsoul Charm is equipped. At the end of the area is an egg which, upon being hit with the Awoken Dream Nail, reveals a memory of the Knight involving Vessels and the Pale King. It is after traversing this memory that the Kingsoul is changed into the Void Heart.

There are two ways to get into Deepnest, first is through the Mantis Village via the arena of the Mantis Lords and second is dropping down into the area via the Fungal Wastes, it is recommended to enter Deepnest by dropping into the area via the Fungal Wastes where you can acquire 1x Mask Shard.

The former den of the Weavers, this small platforming area is located behind a breakable wall in the west of Deepnest.

Behaviour and Tactics

If you want or need to leave Deepnest for whatever reason, you’ll need to head through the path leading upward until you unlock a shortcut back to Mantis Village. To continue onwards, head through the cobweb-laden exit on the left. As soon as you enter, you’ll see a spike wall in front of you.
