If you've been around for Android 12 and later, you might have heard the term "Health Connect" thrown around. Google introduced Health Connect in Android 12 to make syncing and tracking health data across multiple apps seamless. The latest and upcoming Android 15 should bring many improvements to Health Connect, which motivated us to explain exactly what Health Connect is and how it works.

Android 14 integrates Health Connect – Introduction & Installation guide

Health Connect is a framework module in Android that synchronizes various parameters of training data across all training apps on your Android devices. For example, if you use Samsung Health and it is connected to Health Connect, the step data measured by your Galaxy Smartwatch stored on your phone will be synchronized with, for example, Google Fit or any other app that also records step data.

Health Connect was first introduced as a standalone app but Google has slowly integrated it into Android. Fitness app developers are encouraged to add Health Connect to their apps and encourage users to enable it. Users can then enable it to sync all data in Health Connect and other fitness apps.

The health parameters and sub-parameters that apps can access include things ranging from calories burned to steps, heart rate, exercise data and more. It may not be possible to mention all the parameters that Health Connect supports, but you get the gist. Here are all popular parameters supported by Health Connect.
