There are three sports in Iceland that are by far the most popular. There is football, handball and golf. The most popular of those is football. Icelandic football is on a high note this year.

The most popular sports in Iceland are football, golf, equestrian, handball, basketball, badminton, athletics, and Sport-for-All. The greatest growth has been in golf and equestrian sports.

Speak to your local club or the school your children go to for more information. Icelanders are particularly fond of soccer, handball, and basketball. The traditional Icelandic sport is wrestling (glíma), but martial arts such as taekwondo, judo, and karate are also popular.

Important parts of Icelandic cuisine are lamb, dairy, and fish, the latter due to the fact that Iceland has traditionally been inhabited only near its coastline. Popular foods in Iceland include skyr, hangikjöt (smoked lamb), kleinur, laufabrauð, and bollur.

Iceland is known the world over as the land of ice and fire. As well as containing a multitude of glaciers and snow-peaked mountains, volcanoes are also dotted around the island. What makes this volcano unique is the fact that you can actually go inside the magma chamber!

Bejam was named after the family’s beach hut whose name was an acronym for Brian, Eric, John And Milly and Marion, the names of the Apthorp family members. The shops were rebranded to carry the “Iceland” name.
