The state recognizes five religions: Buddhism, Catholicism, Daoism, Islam, and Protestantism. The practice of any other faith is formally prohibited, although often tolerated, especially in the case of traditional Chinese beliefs.

‘Normal religious activities’ is interpreted to mean religious activities carried out by religious bodies that have official government approval. Religions that are not legally permitted to exist in China like the Falun Gong or Jehovah’s witnesses are not protected by the constitution.

Pokémon Go has been banned in China since 2017 seemingly because of its gameplay. The augmented reality game has players catch virtual Pokémon by travelling to specific locations in the real world. The function was deemed “a big social risk” by regulators, who said it posed a threat to pedestrians and road safety.

China’s National Radio and Television Administration said Friday that it won’t allow BBC World News to continue airing inside China. The ban comes after Ofcom, the U.K.’s media regulator, withdrew the license for CGTN, which is China’s English language news channel.

On September 2, the government had banned 118 more apps and in November it blocked 43 new Chinese mobile apps in the country, including shopping website AliExpress. The list of banned Chinese apps so far also includes PUBG Mobile, Snack Video, Cam Card, WeWorkChina and WeDate.

So far the list of prominent apps which are banned in India includes, PUBG Mobile, TikTok, ShareIt, Baidu, CamScanner, UC Browser, Likee, Bigo Live, Shein, Clash of Clans to name a few.
