Discrimination happens when people act on their prejudices or stereotypes. When we fix people into one image we create a stereotype. When people say that those who belong to a particular country, religion, sex, race or economic background are “stingy”, “lazy,” “criminal” or “dumb,” they are using stereotypes.

when they are negative, stereotypes lead to prejudice and discrimination. negative feelings, opinions, and beliefs associated with a stereotype. Discrimination. the inappropriate and unjustified treatment of people as a result of prejudice.

Equality – It is an element of a democratic government according to which every person, regardless of their caste, gender and religion, has been given the same rights in the constitution. The constitution has guaranteed its citizens the Right to Equality under the fundamental rights.

Mahars: The Mahars are an important social group within the Indian state of Maharashtra and its surrounding states. A group of related endogamous castes, the Mahars are the largest Scheduled Caste group in Maharashtra.

Stereotype has a negative connotation. But a stereotype is simply a generalization about how a group of people behaves. It may be statistically accurate but not universally valid. Many believe we shouldn’t make decisions a ecting an individual based on a stereotype, even if it is statistically accurate.
