Environment and society is focused on how humans affect the natural geography of the world, and vice versa, and uses of geography is about how to apply geography to understanding the past, and making decisions for the future.

The six essential elements are The World in Spatial Terms, Places and Regions, Physical Systems, Human Systems, Environment and Society, and The Uses of Geography.

The purpose of the first essential element of geography is to study the relationships between people, places, and environments by mapping information about them into a spatial context. You just studied 13 terms!

The six elements organize the eighteen national standards and include: the world in spatial terms, places and regions, physical systems, human systems, environment and society, and the uses of geography. These elements help us understand how people and places are connected in the world.

The Five Themes in Geography

• Location: Position on the Earth’s Surface (Absolute/Relative).
• Place: Physical and Human Characteristics.
• Human/Environment Interactions: Shaping the Landscape.
• Movement: Humans Interacting on the Earth.
• Regions: How They Form and Change.

Find your location on Google Maps The “Where Am I” app shows your current geograph location, including latitude & longitude, on Google Maps. The geolocation service is available on both desktop computers and mobile phones. The location finder service uses the Google Maps Geolocation API to determine the place.

1. Open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Saved. . Under “Your lists,” tap Labeled.
3. Tap the label you want to edit.
4. At the bottom, tap the place’s name or address.
5. Tap Label.
6. Enter a new label name.
7. Tap Add label.

Add a place

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the My Maps app .
2. Open or create a map. A map can have up to 10,000 lines, shapes, or places.
3. In the bottom right, tap Add. Add a new point.
4. Drag the map until the X is where you want it, then tap Select this location.
5. Give your place a name and choose a layer.
6. Tap Done .

Google Maps labels are used to highlight businesses, landmarks, and other major attractions on the base map. To see the labels, simply zoom in until they become visible on the map. If certain labels are no longer relevant, you can simply delete them.

How to add a location in Google Maps on the mobile app

1. Open the Google Maps app.
2. Search for the location in the search bar.
3. Tap the info bar that appears at the bottom of the screen to open it.
4. Tap “Add a Missing Place” at the bottom of the info page.

Adding your home address to Google Maps is quite simple. Now click on ‘Set home address’. Now, you have the option to enter your home address in the search bar. You can also select the option to choose your location on map and allow the app to detect your location.

Get to Street View in Google Maps

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Search for a place or drop a pin on the map.
3. At the bottom, tap the place name or address.
4. Scroll down and select the photo labeled “Street View” or select the thumbnail with a Street View icon .

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app Maps. Search for a place or tap it on the map. Scroll down and select Suggest an edit. Follow onscreen instructions to send your feedback….What you can change, add or edit info about a place:

1. Name.
2. Address.
3. Marker location.
4. Hours or other facts.
