An APA-style paper includes the following sections: title page, abstract, introduction, method, results, discussion, and references. Your paper may also include one or more tables and/or figures. Different types of information about your study are addressed in each of the sections, as described below.

Start with the Methods section.

1. Write the other sections in this order: Introduction, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, and then the Abstract. Gather your bibliography before you write the Introduction and Results and Discussion sections.
2. Make your figures and tables first.
3. Write the Abstract last.

An APA formatted paper consists of four basic sections: an APA title page, abstract, body (which includes methods, results, and discussion), and references. The sections that are used will depend on the particular type of research paper you are writing.

A scholarly article generally consists of the background of a research topic, its study design and methodology, the results of the study, and then its conclusion. The scholarly articles or publications used to inform the research are listed at the end of the article as its references or works cited.

Scholarly articles are a full-length document on original research, and sources of high-valuable information. They are written by an expert, for other experts, with new information and research results in some fields. The authors are scholars or researchers with advanced degrees and/or credentials, like Ph.

APA in-text citation style uses the author’s last name and the year of publication, for example: (Field, 2005). For direct quotations, include the page number as well, for example: (Field, 2005, p. 14).

The general format for an essay written in the APA writing style includes using 12-pt. Times New Roman font, double-spacing, and one-inch margins on all sides. A page header with the title of the paper and the page number is included at the top of each page. This is called a running head.

Either click “Insert” and “Header” or just double-click where the header will be. Click the “Home” tab and correct the font like we did before. Again, it should be Times New Roman 12. Then, write just the title of your paper in ALL CAPS, again remembering to stop before characters.

The APA style format guidelines is popular and can be easily found in the research paper samples, through the internet, or you could buy the APA’s Publication Manual. Proceed to the title page. This page should be separate from other pages and should contain a running head. Construct the body and the abstract.

APA style requires a running header with page numbers for the paper, complete with title and page number on each page. Find the “Header & Footer” tab under the “Insert” tab and click “Header.”. Click on “Edit Header.”. Insert the running title of the paper and click “OK.”.
