The Measures of Academic Process (MAP) is its trademark academic aptitude test, designed to adapt to every student’s level, regardless of age. Each section of the math test covers a specific list of topics. The topic choice is based on the student’s grade level, as the test aligns itself with the Common Core.

There is no maximum or “perfect” score on a MAP Growth test. A student’s score on any MAP Growth test is a function of both the proportion of questions answered correctly and the difficulty of the questions asked.

To calculate MAP assessment scores, NWEA uses the RIT, or Rasch unIT scale. This scale measures the value of a student’s score in relation to his or her scores on previous tests. Each RIT score indicates a point on a continuous scale of learning.
