A guinea pig mating call is a distinctive low rumbling sound in the back of their throat. This sound is called ‘rumbling’, and can be made be either a male or female guinea pig. You will hear this sound often, particularly if you keep guinea pigs of different sexes together.

Rumbling: also known as rumble strutting and motor-boarding this is a rumbling noise and a mating sound. Males will make it to attract females and a female will make it to let nearby males know she’s in season. Rumbling or rumble strutting is a sound that Guinea Pigs will make as part of their mating ritual.

When ready to mate, both male and female guinea pigs strut and rumble throughout their enclosure. A male may chase the females in his cage around, attempt to mount them, or even stand up on his hind legs to assert his dominance. Female guinea pigs mirror some of these actions.

Whistling: Guinea pigs will often let out a high pitched squeal or whistle, and this noise means your furry friend is excited, perhaps about feeding time or playtime. Chirping: One strange guinea pig sound you may observe is a chirping noise, often made when your guinea pig is in a trance-like state.

The dominant guinea pig usually mounts the one they are trying to dominate. The mounting is never sexual and should not worry you. It just means that they are trying to mark their territory by showing the weaker one that they are in charge.

WHEEKING. Wheeking is the sound a guinea pig makes when it is hungry so don’t be surprised if the wheek around the time you usually feed them or if they see you bringing some food. Wheeking is something that’s exclusively directed towards humans.

Depending on the situation and/or environment of your guinea pig, you can probably figure what kind of purring is happening. The rumble is similar to the purr, except with a vibrating effect and lower pitch. The male uses this sound when he is wooing the female to mate. In a way, it’s his mating call.

When dominance displays escalate to mounting behavior, the more aggressive guinea pig typically chases the other around the cage, nipping at her behind and rumbling. Once she corners her opponent, she will mount and hump her adversary for a few seconds, before dropping back down and rumbling some more.

Prevent breeding from occurring by putting guinea pigs in separate “male” and “female” designated enclosures. Always keep an eye on guinea pigs living together to make sure they’re getting along well. Aggressive behavior is a possibility in male cavies.

This is clear evidence of how highly evolved they are social and emotional. So, although we wouldn’t consider guinea pigs to cry ’emotional tears’, like all mammals their eyes do produce physical tears. This is to keep their eye moist and clean. Healthy eyes, just as with humans, should look moist, bright and clear.

Squeal: Some guinea pigs will squeal when they are experiencing potential pain or they need attention. It can sometimes be that another guinea pig is stealing his favorite spot to eat. Pay attention to your guinea pig if you hear a squeal because it could indicate that they need help from something hurting them.

If you have the males and females living together within the same cage then female guinea pigs can spray urine on male guinea pigs. They can also sometimes spray urine at a male guinea pig when they don’t want any type of affection from them too.

There are a number of ways to tell if a guinea fowl is male or female. Females hang lower to the ground .V. Males have more upright posture. Females have smaller wattles .V. Males have longer, larger cupped wattles. Females make 1 and 2 syllable calls .V. Males only make 1 syllable call. Females have smaller helmets .V.

There are many types of guinea pigs, but the main ones people know are, Abyssinian, American, Crested, Coronet, Peruvian, Silkie, Skinny Pig, Teddy, and Texel. This type of guinea pig has swirls of hair covering its body. These have different colors of fur, and different stains.

Putting two guinea pigs together who have never met each other. If they are coming from two different places then these things need to be considered. 1. For at least 2 weeks, keep them separate. Put them in separate cages next to each other so they cant see each other but can hear and smell each other.

Male guinea pigs (boars) mature sexually and can mate as young as 3 months of age. Female guinea pigs (sows) mature sexually as young as 2 months of age (55 to 70 days).
