The pointing or input devices act as the intermediate between outside the world and our own computer or device. The prime examples of pointing devices are mouse, keyboard, scanner, etc.

A touchpad or trackpad is a pointing device featuring a tactile sensor, a specialized surface that can translate the motion and position of a user’s fingers to a relative position on the operating system that is made output to the screen.

NOTE: There is no difference between “touchpad” and “trackpad,” so the two terms can be used simultaneously. However, “touchpad” is commonly associated with Windows computers while “trackpad” typically describes the touch controls built into Macs and Apple-branded peripheral devices.

And, the keyboard is not a pointing device because it is basically used for typing purposes,not for moving the cursor.

Microphone is not a pointing device. It is an input device that allows users to capture sound waves and transfer them in digital format to the computer. A pointing device is an input device that allows the user to move the pointer (cursor) on the screen.

A mouse is called a pointing device because using it allows you to move the mouse cursor and point to anything on the screen.

Smart card readers are used with smart cards which are a type of plastic technology card with a built-in chip used for. electronic processes including personal identification, access control, authentication, and financial transactions. Smart card readers obtain or “read” this type of data.

A memory card reader is a device for accessing the data on a memory card such as a CompactFlash (CF), Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMediaCard (MMC). Most card readers also offer write capability, and together with the card, this can function as a pen drive.

Memory cards are used to expand the storage capacity of mobile phones, SLRs, Dash cam, Drone and the other electronic products. Normally we refer to the memory card as SD card.

No Android device supports standard SD cards. Tablets will typically have the MicroSD card slot along the side of the device….To do this:

1. Tap Internal storage.
2. Select a file or folder.
3. Tap ⋮
4. Tap Move to… or Move.
5. Select your SD card’s name.
6. Tap MOVE or DONE.

Usually you can do that by using an Micro-SD card adapter which you can connect via USB port to your computer or laptop. Some computers and laptops even have a Micro-SD card slot built in. You just need to plug the card in and you are ready to transfer the files on it to your computer or laptop.

Through the Droid

1. Go to your Droid’s home screen. Tap the “Apps” icon to open up a list of your phone’s installed apps.
2. Scroll through the list and select “My Files.” The icon looks like a manila folder. Tap the “SD Card” option. The resulting list contains all the data on your MicroSD card.

Format SD card on Android phone You can choose to format your phone microSD card to fix SD card cannot read error on the mobile phone itself. This can be done by navigating to the Settings > Storage > your SD card > select Format/ Erase SD card.

When your laptop or computer doesn’t recognize the SD card, you may try the following fixes:

1. Change SD card reader and reconnect it to your PC.
2. Change the SD card drive letter.
3. Update the SD card driver.
4. Run CMD CHKDSK command to fix SD card file system error.

There is a possibility that data in the memory card is broken. Insert the memory card into your PC to back up the data. Then, format the memory card with the camera. REINSERT MEMORY CARD: If using a Micro SD card with an SD card adaptor, make sure that the Micro SD card is inserted correctly.

If the SD card does not work with your device (e.g., camera) and isn’t recognized by your computer, the SD card may be bad. If your smartphone cannot read an SD card, the card may have been formatted by a device that’s incompatible with your phone’s operating system.

Step 1: Take out the memory card that is currently in a read only state from your device. Step 2: Check if there is a physical lock switch on it. Step 3: Position the lock switch from ON to OFF and unlock the SD card.

Another very common cause of an unrecognized SD card is a very simple one: a dirty SD card or a dusty card reader. Either will cause a poor contact between card and reader. So the second thing you should do is give your card a clean, and remove any dust from the reader, then try the card again.

Put the SD card in the card reader and plug it to appropriate port on your laptop. Then open File Explorer (Windows key + E) and go to This PC. In right pane, you should have your SD card listed. Double click on it to browse or access the content on your SD card.

First find your SD card in “Device Manager” and right click it. If it shows “Disable Device”, then you have already enabled SD card reader and there is no need to do anything. If not, just select the option “Enable Device”. Then Windows 10 could detect your SD card normally.

Go into device manager and uninstall the card reader, it should be listed as IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. This will uninstall and reinstall the driver for the card reader. Follow the instructions in the preceding procedure to uninstall the device. Plug in the device and then restart the computer.
