Definition of astronomy: Astronomy is the study of the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, gas, galaxies, gas, dust and other non-Earthly bodies and phenomena.

The sun, the moon, and all the objects, shining in the night sky are known as the Celestial Bodies. This includes every natural object that is located outside the Earth’s atmosphere, such as the Moon, the Sun, an asteroid, planet, or star. Even an asteroid in space is a celestial body.

There are seven main types of stars. In order of decreasing temperature, O, B, A, F, G, K, and M. O and B stars are uncommon but very bright; M stars are common but dim..

Since the 20th century there have been two main types of astronomy, observational and theoretical astronomy. Observational astronomy uses telescopes and cameras to observe or look at stars, galaxies and other astronomical objects.

Selenography is the study of the surface and physical features of the Moon. Today, selenography is considered to be a subdiscipline of selenology, which itself is most often referred to as simply “lunar science.” The word selenography is derived from the Greek lunar deity Σελήνη Selene and γράφω graphō, “I write”.

Helioseismology, a term coined by Douglas Gough, is the study of the structure and dynamics of the Sun through its oscillations. It is similar to geoseismology, or asteroseismology (also coined by Gough), which are respectively the studies of the Earth or stars through their oscillations.

Because of the way light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere during an eclipse, red light from the Sun is reflected onto it and gives it a reddish colour and the nickname blood moon.

The Harvest Moon is the closest full moon to the autumn equinox. It’ll fall in 2020 on October 1 for us in the Northern Hemisphere. Meanwhile, we in North America will call this September 1-2 full moon by the name Fruit Moon, Corn Moon or Barley Moon. The moon turns precisely full on September 2, 2020, at 05:22 UTC.

There are long traditions of giving different moons names. This being a bigger, brighter, reddish-looking blue moon, perhaps we should call the next full moon the super purple moon. The moon will not actually appear purple, nor will have it a cape – but Jan.

It is yet unclear as to how the moon turns Purple but NASA guesses that it should be “a combination of several effects.” During the eclipse, the moon which was covered in the Earth’s shadow, appears to be a faint red. The reason for this is cited to be the “light refracted through air around the Earth.”

Despite its moniker, the Pink Moon isn’t actually pink. The name “Pink Moon” comes from the bloom of ground phlox, a pink flower common in North America, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac. It has also been called the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and the Fish Moon.

As for its definition, some people say it’s a “Black Moon” if: There is a new Moon twice in the same month. It’s similar to the Blue Moon, which has become a common term for the second full Moon in a month. This is the definition of Black Moon that’s used most often.

The Black Moon is a somewhat unusual celestial event — they occur about once every 32 months, on average, and they sometimes only occur in certain time zones.

Earth’s atmosphere bends sunlight, so the planet doesn’t cast a jet-black shadow. So, if the whole moon passes through the innermost part of Earth’s shadow, we see a copper-colored lunar face. This is known as a total lunar eclipse, or a “blood moon.” In 2020, we’ll observe four penumbral lunar eclipses.

This blood moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse. During a total lunar eclipse, Earth lines up between the Moon and the Sun. The air molecules from Earth’s atmosphere scatter out most of the blue light. The remaining light reflects onto the Moon’s surface with a red glow, making the Moon appear red in the night sky.

Someday, you might see a true blue-colored moon in the sky. Blue-colored moons are rare – aren’t necessarily full – and happen when Earth’s atmosphere contains dust or smoke particles of a certain size, slightly wider than 900 nanometers. Particles of this size are very efficient at scattering red light.

The extra days accumulate, so every two or three years (seven times in the 19 year Metonic cycle), there is an extra full moon in the year. The extra full moon necessarily falls in one of the four seasons, giving that season four full moons instead of the usual three, and, hence, a “blue” moon.

“Once in a blue moon” is a common expression that has been used for a long time, and which means ‘not very often,’ or ‘very rarely. ‘ It often refers to an extra full moon; however, it has been used to describe the way the moon actually looked, when for different reasons it had turned a blueish color.

The second full moon, or blue moon, will be visible on October 31. It’s the first instance of a blue moon in the Americas since March 2018. It’s also the first time a Halloween full moon has appeared for all time zones since 1944, according to Farmers’ Almanac.

The “super blue blood moon” is a rare “lunar trifecta” event and was the first such lunar event seen in North America since 1866. This year, there will be a full moon on Halloween. This makes it a “blue moon,” since it’s the second full moon in one calendar month. This phenomenon usually happens around every 2.7 years.

The next seasonal Blue Moon will occur on August 22, 2021, as the third full Moon in a series of four within that season. The next calendrical Blue Moon will happen on August 30, 2023, as the second full Moon in that month.

2021 will see two Super Full Moons—on April 26/27 and May 26. The Full Moon in April is traditionally known as Pink Moon and the Full Moon in May is called the Flower Moon in many Northern Hemisphere cultures.
