When measuring the weight or mass of a small object, you can use a scale or a balance. You can use a scale to measure milligrams, centigrams, grams, and small numbers of kilograms. The definition of a positive is a good thing, or a result greater than zero, or something that represents an affirmation. An example of a positive is an item on a list of good things about losing your job. An example of a positive is a result on a pregnancy test saying that you’re pregnant.

Hence, work is positive. Zero work – the work done is said to be zero when force and displacement are perpendicular to each other. Negative work done – The work done is said to be negative when force and displacement are in opposite directions. Hence, work is negative.

Hint: If force and displacement would be in the same way, it is stated that the work carried out on an object is positive, and if they are in opposite ways, it is negative work done. If force and displacement become perpendicular to one another, it is zero work.
