Q. What makes a good playhouse?
A good-quality playhouse will last you for years to come. Wooden playhouses should come treated and the wood should have a long (10-year) anti-rot guarantee. Look for shiplap tongue-and-groove cladding which creates a strong, weatherproof panel, and planed timber throughout to prevent splinters.
Q. How do you make a cool fort outside?
Ideas for outdoor forts include:
- Make a tepee with long sticks tied together with twine.
- Drape blankets on low tree limbs and use as a covering for a fort.
- Use bushes as fortifications for your fort.
- Recycle a large box, cut out windows, and call it home!
- Build a snow fort, if you have some of the fluffy stuff!
Q. How do you make a fort out of wood?
- Prepare the Ground. Clear the ground that are going to use for your wooden fort.
- Place Posts. Using some 2×4 pieces of lumber, drive two into the ground to form a corner.
- Attach Bottom Beam. With the 2×6 lumber, span the distance between corners for the bottom joist.
- Lay Floor.
- Build Walls.
- Lift Wall.
- Build Door.
- Finish.

Our principal designer and co-founder, Kevin, spent two very special years living among the extraordinary castles of Europe. They are the inspiration for many of our castle beds. As you look through our various designs you will see staircases, slides and towers to fit just about any room or decor.
