Q. What are words with 2 vowels together?
When a syllable has 2 vowels together, the first vowel is usually long and the second is silent. Examples: “pain, eat, boat, res/cue, say, grow”. NOTE: Diphthongs don’t follow this rule; In a diphthong, the vowels blend together to create a single new sound. The diphthongs are: “oi,oy,ou,ow,au,aw, oo” and many others.

Q. How do you teach two syllable words?
As I mentioned above, teach them to clap or tap out the syllables first. Focus on each syllable separately. Say the word more than once! After writing the first syllable, train your students to say the whole word again, clap it out again, then say the 2nd syllable and stretch it out to hear all the individual phonemes.
