Pop-rap (also known as hip pop) is a genre of music fusing the rhythm-based lyricism of hip hop music with pop music’s preference for melodious vocals and catchy tunes, which gained mainstream popularity during the 1990s. The lyrics are often lighthearted, with choruses similar to those heard in pop music.

Hip hop has lots of raps, scratches, free verses and beatbox included in most of its songs, while pop is relatively simple and focuses more on love themes, targeting a much younger audience. Pop songs usually have shorter lyrics, and shorter song durations, when compared to hip hop songs.

In the 1980s, rap artists including Run DMC and LL Cool J set up the blueprints and origins of pop-rap as they suddenly broke into the mainstream. LL Cool J has been described as the very first “pop-rapper” in history, when he rose to prominence on his 1985 debut album Radio.

Pop is nothing but the music which is popular and it can be of any genre but basically it is the music by artists such as Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and even Micheal Jackson. RnB (Rhythm and Blues) is a music with roots in blues, jazz and hip hop.

According to the musician, pop music is inherently popular because it creates a sense of familiarity for listeners. Therefore, when they hear the same ‘woop’ throughout the genre, they’re more inclined to ease into a piece of music they’ve never heard because it sounds familiar.

First of all let’s define pop music: Pop music is a genre which was derived from rock and roll in the Western world around 1950s. It’s not to be confused with popular music which describes all music that is popular. But yes, pop music is popular music and it appears there is scientific explanation for it’s popularity.

Pop is not a musical style, pop used to mean popular music as opposed to classical music, anything that is marketed as commercial music is pop today unless you are buying a classical album.

Music loudness has been manipulated by the use of compression. Compression boosts the volume of the quietest parts of the song so they match the loudest parts, reducing dynamic range. With everything now loud, it gives music a muddled sound, as everything has less punch and vibrancy due to compression.

Although popular music sometimes is known as “pop music”, the two terms are not interchangeable. Popular music is a generic term for a wide variety of genres of music that appeal to the tastes of a large segment of the population, whereas pop music usually refers to a specific musical genre within popular music.

Popular pop musicians are; Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake. Pop music has produced the highest number of hits because it is upbeat and it focuses on common themes. Korea, for example, has its own distinct pop music form that has greatly contributed to the Korean music industry.

Among all the popular genres of music, Pop Music has emerged as the most popular one since it was first introduced. Also, Pop Music usually repeats its patterns, rhythms, and lyrics as well because most of the songs revolve around the same themes and topics. All this makes Pop a popular genre among all.

Visuals. Pop music focuses on not just the music, but the visuals too. Hence why pop musicians are more likely to dance and do music videos than non-pop musicians. Dancing is visually appealing and a great music video can help a song stick out more to the audience.

Research proves what our parents have been saying all along: Modern pop music really is worse than older generations of pop music. Not only that, it has negative effects on your brain, too — if you’re chiefly a pop music fan, you’re likely to be less creative than any other kind of music lover.
