Shrek is a Dreamworks Animation Studios production Dreamworks premiered their animated movie Shrek in 2001, sharing the story of one journey of self-discovery, bravery, love, and friendship. Unfortunately, Shrek is not available for streaming on Netflix or Disney+.

Shrek was based on a real man, named Maurice Tillet, pictured above. He was a wrestler who had a condition called acromegaly, colloquially known as gigantism. Tillet died in 1954. Some people believe Abraham Lincoln had the same condition.

In the story, an ogre called Shrek (Myers) finds his swamp overrun by fairy tale creatures who have been banished by the corrupt Lord Farquaad (Lithgow) aspiring to be king. Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to regain control of his swamp in return for rescuing Princess Fiona (Diaz), whom Farquaad intends to marry.

Shrek is actually based on a French man who lived in the 1900’s named Maurice Tillet. Maurice developed a disease called Acromegaly which made his bones keep growing and growing. He became famous as a pro-wrestler in the states and eventually died of a heart attack at age 51.

So, unless her ogre and human age don’t collide, we have to assume Shrek is the same age. So, in conclusion, I’d have to say Shrek is either a long living ogre around his young-ish ogre age of 400, or around 30. He also seems to be around 30 when he turns human, so consider both these ages as real possibilities.

Donkey may hail from Texas because he has buckteeth and speaks with a southern accent.
