He instructs her parents to give her something to eat. Today some people suggest that the little girl was not dead but was in fact in a diabetic coma and this is why Jesus gives this instruction.

Lazarus

Resurrection miracles In the New Testament, Jesus is said to have raised several persons from death. These resurrections included the daughter of Jairus shortly after death, a young man in the midst of his own funeral procession, and Lazarus of Bethany, who had been buried for four days.

22And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

He informed all those present that the girl was not dead but asleep. He then went upstairs and restored the girl to life. In Mark’s account, the Aramaic phrase “Talitha kum” (transliterated into Greek as ταλιθα κουμ and meaning, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”) is attributed to Jesus.

Caesarea Philippi

In the Gospels of Mark and Luke, this episode takes place after Jesus had been preaching at the synagogue of Capernaum. Jesus goes to Peter’s house, where he sees the mother of Peter’s wife lying in bed with a high fever. Jesus touches her hand and the fever leaves her, and she gets up and begins to wait on him.

Even though the incident of the servant’s ear being cut off is recorded in all four gospels, Matthew 26:51; Mark 14:47; Luke 22:51; and John the servant and the disciple are named as Malchus and Simon Peter only in John. Only Luke records that Jesus healed the servant.

The relevant passages in the Gospels of John and Luke, KJV, read: 10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Thus he “groaned in his spirit” because even those who were closest to him failed to recognize that he was, as he declared in verse 26, “the resurrection and the life”. Finally, at the graveside, he “wept in sympathy with their sorrow over Lazarus’ death”.

Jesus at the age of twelve accompanies Mary and Joseph, and a large group of their relatives and friends to Jerusalem on pilgrimage, “according to the custom” – that is, Passover.

Galilee

They held that both the Bible and Christian tradition taught that alcohol is a gift from God that makes life more joyous, but that over-indulgence leading to drunkenness is sinful.

Galatians 5:19–21: “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Ephesians 5:18: “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.
