Poland made primary school six years and created a universal three-year lower secondary school, providing students with a longer common academic foundational experience before choosing an academic or vocational secondary program. Poland is outperforming the UK when it comes to education as well as being the world leader in converting economic growth into the well-being of its citizens, according to a new report. This was higher than the western European average of 82 and Britain’s 74.

There are three main types of education, namely, Formal, Informal and Non-formal. Each of these types is discussed below.

The term education system generally refers to public schooling, not private schooling, and more commonly to kindergarten through high school programs. Schools or school districts are typically the smallest recognized form of “education system” and countries are the largest.

Education in Poland. Compulsory education in Poland starts at the age of six from the mandatory “0” reception class (Polish zerówka or klasa 0, literally Year 0). At the age of seven kids start the 1st grade of primary school (Polish szkoła podstawowa) lasting for 8 (6 until 2017) years and finished with an exam.

College is also free in Poland. This includes Polish students and students from the EU, but other international students usually have to pay at least $2,300 a year in tuition fees, according to the European Commission. Fees for non-EU students vary by institution.

School year in Poland starts on the 1st of September and ends on first Friday after the 18th of June. It lasts ten months and is separated into two terms by winter break, with two holiday breaks for Christmas and Easter.
