What uniforms do cadets wear? Cadets wear blue uniform for classroom activities and green uniform for field exercises.

How much does the uniform cost? All cadets are provided with uniform while they are in the ACF which is returned when they leave. There is no charge for this, although you may be asked for a returnable deposit.

Tights should be barely black in colour and seamless; they should not have any snags or ladders. Walking/ combat socks should be worn with assault boots in green uniform with a pair of black socks underneath.

Beards – shall be worn with a moustache, kept neatly trimmed, especially on the lower neck and cheekbones, and not exceed 2 cm in bulk. Cadets shall, on their own accord or upon direction from their CO shave off unsuccessful attempts to grow a beard unless due to a medical or religious accomodation.

Trousers (female Cadets are entitled to wear skirts (with tights) or trousers)

Do Air Cadets receive pay? Air Cadets are not paid during the year, however Cadets have an opportunity to earn training bonuses for summer courses. In addition, some Cadets have an opportunity to work at summer training centres.

A brassard is a “decorative cloth band, often braided or tasseled, worn around the upper arm, as by many military personnel to signify a particular group, regiment, etc.” The brassard is to be fitted over the right sleeve of the jumper or shirt and positioned above the elbow.

Trousers (female Cadets are entitled to wear skirts (with tights) or trousers.

Extreme political affiliations, offensive tattoos or adornments, substance abuse and pending court appearances, for example, will automatically prevent you from being accepted into the RAF. Tattoos, brands or bead implants that are deemed obscene or offensive will result in disqualification.

Cadet will maintain good personal hygiene and grooming on a daily basis and wear the uniform so as not to detract from their overall military appearance.

All Staff and Cadets wear uniforms based on those worn by the regular Royal Air Force. As a Cadet, you will be issued with several uniforms. The order of dress will very much depend on the activity that is taking place.

Unlike No2, 2A, and 2C dress, ‘greens’ are not issued to cadets, apart from the Air Cadet beret worn with all of these uniforms.

Article 5: An Aviation Cadet will report any violation of honor by another Aviation Cadet of which he is witness or has unquestionable knowledge. Article 6: An Aviation Cadet will not commit any act of intentional dishonesty which will reflect in any way on the honor and integrity of the Aviation Cadet Corps and the Air Force.

No. 1 SD Airman/woman hat (Cadets in the ATC wear the ATC cap badge/Cadets in the CCF wear the RAF cap badge) The No. 1 SD uniform is worn for formal events and parades, such as Remembrance Parades.
