Should I even bother learning 2D animation? And the answer is YES. There is still plenty of work for 2D animators, it’s just less in films and more in the huge market of mobile gaming, commercials or TV series (for kids and adults). Lower Costs – Of course this is dependent on the style of your animation, however, 2D animation can be a lot cheaper than 3D animation. This is mainly due to the advancements in software meaning not all animation needs to be drawn frame by frame, therefore reducing production time and in turn costs.

2D graphics are widely used in animation and video games, providing a realistic, but flat, view of movement on the screen. 3D graphics provide realistic depth that allows the viewer to see into spaces, notice the movement of light and shadows, and gain a fuller understanding of what’s being shown.

The reason for that is that the CGI doesn’t stand out. Many of the CG that anime fans complain about is the kind where you can take a random frame from the anime and point at all the things that are CG and all the things that aren’t.

AOT’s CGI can be very wonky at times, especially during high action fluid moments. Most notably witnessed during the beast titans scenes. And people act like attack on titan has never used CGI before.

CGI means computer generated imagery, it’s basically 3D animation that tries to emulate 2D animation, some studios use cgi to make scenarios like in Attack on Titan, others use it to make the entire anime like Knights of Sidonia or Berserker.

Basically CGI stands for Computer Generated Imagery. Now I know anime isn’t made on paper, it’s made on computers of course, so many of you might be thinking anime is CGI. But there is a HUGE difference between CGI and animation (which is what most animes use).

Dorohedoro uses CGI because the source material has a very distinct rough aesthetic with detailed art that can be hard to adapt in traditional 2D animation. Also, Dorohedoro has a modest budget so using CGI helps saves money.

Release date of Dorohedoro Season 2: But Six OVA episodes of the series of six minutes each is going to be released on Netflix Japan in June. The official release date of Dorohedoro Season 2 is not yet announced but we expect it to be in this year.
