The ocean will no longer be able to perform many of its essential functions, leading to a lower quality of life. People will starve as they lose one of their main food sources. The effects of a world without fish in the sea would be felt by everyone.

Animals don’t need energy from the sun, not directly anyway. Animals get energy from the food they eat. However, that food either got its energy by eating other food, or by photosynthesis, and sooner or later almost all energy on Earth comes from the sun.

Amphibians

Marine mammals increase the overall health of the oceanic ecosystem by helping to counteract ocean stratification, thus making it easier for phytoplankton to grow.

It is mined for minerals (salt, sand, gravel, and some manganese, copper, nickel, iron, and cobalt can be found in the deep sea) and drilled for crude oil. The ocean plays a critical role in removing carbon from the atmosphere and providing oxygen. It regulates Earth’s climate.

They are uniformly grey in colour though may appear brown in sunlight (the “Great White Whale” of Melville’s novel, if such an animal existed, was an albino, and white sperm whales have been reported in reality as well).

Ambergris, a solid waxy substance originating in the intestine of the sperm whale (Physeter catodon). In Eastern cultures ambergris is used for medicines and potions and as a spice; in the West it was used to stabilize the scent of fine perfumes.

Scientists have found squid beaks in clumps of ambergris, leading many to surmise the ambergris is something of a protective secretion that protects sperm whales’ digestive tracts from the scratching of those hard beaks. …

Ambergris is a waxy solid substance, secreted by sperm whales, an endangered species protected under the Wildlife act. These whales prey mostly on squids and the undigested portions are eliminated through their vomit.
