Real oxygenated fluorocarbon fluid was used in the rat fluid breathing scene. The only reason for cutting to the actors’ faces was to avoid showing the rats defecating from momentary panic as they began breathing the fluid.

By using oxygen suspended in liquid, divers would no longer have to worry about decompression sickness – the often fatal condition known as “the bends” which occurs when nitrogen dissolved in the blood under the immense pressures of deep water bubbles out as we rise.

Yes, the Abyss is non-anamorphic, and that sucks. Your choices are non-anamorphic DVD, Laserdisc and VHS. Usually you should have some sort of zoom function that lets you get rid of at least one set of black bars without distorting the image–that’s what it’s there for, use it.

“Scale non=anamorphic wide screen DVD” means, if truthful, that the player takes the inner 360 rows of pixels and reconstructs the video frame so that amount of picture material occupies all 480 scan lines. WHen used with a 16:9 TV, the result fills the screen using the TV’s regular full or 16:9 mode without zooming.

Anamorphic lenses therefore improved image quality by both enhancing vertical resolution and reducing the appearance of grain. For example, using a standard spherical lens to capture 2.40:1 imagery on 35 mm film only utilizes 50% of each frame’s area.

Although currently there is no labeling standard, DVDs with content originally produced in an aspect ratio wider than 1.33:1 are typically labeled “Anamorphic Widescreen”, “Enhanced for 16:9 televisions”, “Enhanced for widescreen televisions”, or similar.

As adjectives the difference between anamorphic and widescreen. is that anamorphic is producing various optically distorted images while widescreen is (film) filmed in a greater aspect ratio than the 133:1 or 137:1 aspect ratio.

It is now widely accepted that the widescreen format is the better of the two. Widescreen uses an aspect ratio of 16:9 while full screen uses an aspect ratio of 4:3. 2. Widescreen is better for viewing movies than full screen.
