Registered. The revs per mile could be real important because some tires have a softer formulation and those don’t last as long. So you really also want to factor in the warranties for those other tires. A m/s rated tire will normally wear longer because it is stiffer.

Increasing the width of a tire can impact fuel economy as well. Wider tires create a larger contact patch, the area of the tire actually touching the road. While this is good for performance, it can create a higher resistance to coasting, meaning that the engine will have to use more power and fuel to maintain speed.

For example, larger tires decrease your fuel economy because they are heavier, while smaller tires increase fuel efficiency. Bigger tires also have a higher rolling resistance than smaller tires which means they require more resistance and effort to get them rolling.

The series number in a tire-numbering system refers to the aspect ratio of the tire’s sidewall height to its width. A series 65 tire’s height is 65 percent of its width, a series 70 tire’s height is 70 percent of its width and so on.

I think the 75 series tire is roughly 1″ taller than the 70 series…. so 1/2″ more sidewall… not a lot of difference. The 75 definately “looks” better and might even get ya better mileage as you’re not turning as fast….

265 vs 275 Tire Height There is a slight difference between these tires when it comes to how tall they are. Again, the 275 comes out as the bigger of the two models at 31.1 inches, and the 265 measures in at 30.6 inches.

No difference. Keep in mind 255 and 245 are sidewall width and having nothing to do with tread width. Depending on manufacturer a 245 could have more tread width than a 255.

As a general rule of thumb, it’s safe to fit a tire up to 20 millimeters wider than stock on the original rim. The actual width of the tire will vary depending on the width of the rim: The tire will expand 5 millimeters for every half inch (12.5 millimeters) increase in rim width.

The only difference between a 255 and a 265, like Wandell said, the tire is going to be 10mm wider. If you want a taller tire you need to look and see if it is a 55, 60, or 65 and that is where you get taller…

265mm is 20mm wider than the 245mm. Even if you could – you will have to replace them all with the 265 – and then you don’t know if the wider tyres will hit the bodywork of you car. Yes, but only if certain criteria are met. Both tires on the same axle have to be the same size tire.

Going from 255/70 to 265/70 will increase the actual height of the tire with 14mm (over 1/2″). To keep the same tire height for 265 width, it would require a 67 AR.
