Fans of Elden Ring have started asking FromSoftware about the purpose of entering the Realm of Shadow.

The composition of Elden Ring, made by Hidetaka Miyazaki, is no less than a perfectly orchestrated chorus. However, the same can hardly be said for the game's latest DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, which was released last month. Since setting foot in the Realm of Shadow, not only have players been defeated by the new tougher and tougher bosses, but they've also been left wondering what their disgraced purpose was for coming here in the first place.
Even before the expansion was released, it was established how the player would be guided by Miqiella's footsteps in the undiscovered lands, causing them to stumble across many different enemies and other NPCs who also seem to be followers of the empyrean.
However, according to many, there doesn't seem to be any particular goal for the disgraced to stay and explore the Realm of Shadow in the first place, given how it doesn't affect the base game ending as well.
